The service

Clavis Sinica provides an HTTP API for decomposing Chinese text. Capabilities, prices and request shapes are published at GET /v1/chinese/services and described at /guide.html. That endpoint is the authoritative specification; anything else, including this page, is a description of it.

Accounts and keys

• An API key is issued after you confirm ownership of an email address.
• A key is shown once and stored only as a hash. We cannot recover it for you.
• You are responsible for keeping your key secret. Calls made with your key are billed to your account, whoever makes them. Revoke a compromised key immediately at POST /v1/account/keys/revoke.
• Up to five active keys per account.

Billing

• ckTok is a prepaid balance. USD 1 = 100 ckTok. Each call draws down the balance at the price published for that service code.
• A call that fails, or returns not_found, is refunded to your balance automatically.
• Requests rejected by rate limiting are not charged.
• ckTok is not redeemable for cash. Purchased balance is not refundable to a card or bank account. It does not expire.
• If you believe you were charged in error, write to johnchu@silink.ai with the request details. Where we agree there was an error, we credit ckTok back to the account.

Acceptable use

• Do not attempt to exceed the published rate limits by rotating keys or accounts.
• Do not submit content you do not have the right to submit.
• Do not resell raw API responses as a competing decomposition API. Using the output inside your own product — a course, an app, teaching material — is exactly what the service is for.

What we promise, and what we do not

Fields labelled lookup in a response come from our own structured datasets and are reproducible. Fields labelled generative are produced by a language model; they are useful but we do not warrant them as accurate. The provenance field in every response tells you which is which. Do not treat generated fields as authoritative scholarship without review.

The service is provided as is. We do not offer an uptime SLA at this tier. We will give notice of breaking API changes to account holders by email.

Suspension

We may suspend an account that is abusing the service, attempting to circumvent limits, or not paying. Where we suspend an account without cause on your part, we will refund the unused ckTok balance as a credit, or by another means we agree with you.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 where that Act applies to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. The courts of New Zealand have exclusive jurisdiction.
